BK Häcken were handed a tough lesson in the Champions League as Juventus defeated them 3-0 at home. The loss leaves the Swedish side with zero points and zero goals after two matches in the group stage.

Karlsson shines on debut

Goalkeeper Hanna Karlsson, 16, was handed a start due to Jennifer Falk's suspension. The second-year high school student kept a clean sheet in the first half and showed bravery with the ball at her feet. "I was a bit nervous before the match, but that went away as soon as the game started," Karlsson said afterwards. She added: "There's nothing to be afraid of. You have to be brave and play those passes."

Juventus took the lead in the 58th minute through Tatiana Pinto. Emma Stölen Godö headed in the second from a free-kick in the 76th, and Alba Redondo sealed the 3-0 win in the 88th minute after a one-on-one. Häcken had their chances, notably through Tabby Tindell, but a lack of finishing quality proved decisive.

A difficult path ahead

The defeat makes Häcken's path to the Champions League knockout phase extremely difficult. They sit bottom of their group with tough away trips to Paris FC and Lyon remaining, plus home games against Chelsea and Manchester City. Manager Elena Sadiku and her staff, including Alva Selerud, have plenty to work on.

Meanwhile, a tight title race is ongoing in the Swedish women's league, where Häcken are contenders. In the men's Allsvenskan, BK Häcken are fifth with 36 points from 22 games. Their recent form reads two wins, two draws and one loss from the last five matches. The team will need to recover quickly for that challenge.

The absence of previously sold attackers Felicia Schröder and Monica Jusu Bah was felt in the final third. Defensive lapses in their own penalty area proved costly. Despite the defeat, debutant Karlsson provides hope for the future. She made several saves and displayed a composure beyond her years. Häcken now return to training focused on turning the tide, both in Europe and domestically.
