Häcken lands a major signing as Rybrink returns from London

On July 22, 2026, Häcken announced the return of Josefine Rybrink. The 28-year-old Sweden international leaves Tottenham Hotspur after just over a year in England and signs a three-year deal with the Gothenburg side.

In a club statement, Rybrink made her feelings clear. London is a great city but Gothenburg is the best, she said. I’ve missed BK Häcken and I’m happy to be back.

What actually happened?

Rybrink joined Tottenham in April 2025 after four seasons at Häcken. Now she’s back - and bringing WSL experience with her.

Häcken sporting director Martin Ericsson welcomed the move. It feels both good and joyful that Josefine has chosen to come back home to us, he said. She’s an incredibly skilled footballer both offensively and defensively - and now she’s added valuable experience from England.

Why does this matter for Häcken?

Rybrink has been a key player for Häcken for years. Her ability to both create and break up play makes her one of the most versatile midfielders in the Allsvenskan.

With Rybrink back, Häcken’s midfield gains strength ahead of the autumn fixtures. Her WSL experience could prove crucial in the race for medals.

When will we see her play again?

Reports suggest Rybrink could make her Häcken return as early as Monday against Vålerenga. Kick-off is set for 18:30 at Bravida Arena.

Häcken fans are buzzing. Rybrink already has a strong connection with the supporters - and her comeback promises much for the rest of the season.
